Washington, DC – June 30, 2008 – Vantagepoint Funds today announced the completion of the latest “aging” of its Milestone Fund portfolios. Aging is a periodic reallocation of each fund’s underlying individual mutual funds that serves to reduce the anticipated risk levels of funds as the target date draws nearer.
This incremental adjustment process, typically done every six months, is designed to keep the portfolio focused on investors’ retirement and risk-level goals. It was completed for each fund except the Retirement Income Fund and the 2040 Fund in late June 2008.
Because its portfolio contains fixed income securities, aging is not necessary for the Retirement Income Fund to maintain the targeted level of risk and income appropriate for investors during retirement. Also, aging is not currently appropriate for the 2040 fund. Aging the 2040 Fund portfolio is anticipated to become appropriate closer to 2010.
